Be prepared for wildfires with OnStar Crisis Assist

Find out how OnStar can help you during a wildfire

Disaster can strike anywhere and at any time. Whether it’s a naturally occurring event like a hurricane or tornado or something man-made like an accident, explosion or chemical spill, OnStar Crisis Assist* can provide you with critical aid during such emergencies. An OnStar Emergency-Certified Advisor* can help supply vital information about the crisis, provide routing assistance away from danger and connect you with a loved one. Plus, OnStar works with leading disaster preparedness and relief organizations like Public Safety Canada, the Canadian Red Cross and Planet Ready to help communities prepare for the worst and provide aid in the aftermath.

Act now to help protect yourself when wildfires strike

Wildfires are now a year-round occurrence, and as the tragic 2018 California fires have shown, these fires can be fast-moving and incredibly dangerous. If you’re in an area that’s prone to wildfires, be sure to take steps now to help protect yourself:

  • Review your insurance policies and make sure they are up-to-date.
  • Sign up to receive emergency weather alerts on your phone.
  • Understand your evacuation plan ahead of time, and have alternate routes planned should these roads become impassible.
  • Create an emergency kit with enough supplies to last until you make it to safety. This kit should include enough N95 masks for everyone in your family.
  • Create backups of vital documents and store them in an alternate place.
  • Evacuate immediately when told to do so — you may not have much time.
